This past week, I had the pleasure of presenting a storytelling workshop to the faculty and staff of the National Child Research Center (NCRC) in Washington, D.C., during their teacher orientation week before the opening of school. NCRC is a respected and influential independent preschool that has served Washington, D.C. families since 1927. Using live demonstrations, I showed the faculty and staff how teachers and students can create stories together, using an interactive approach. We discussed the benefits of storytelling as a preliteracy activity, and explored how teachers can incorporate interactive storytelling into their lesson plans. We all learned a lot and had great fun in the process. Many thanks, NCRC, for the opportunity to share my love of storytelling with you.
